I was going through the equipment section today, and realized that it doesn't include the belt gear that patrol officers wear. I was wondering if anybody could give me a general idea of what the average officer carries, so I can make a "build a belt" system similar to the MLBE table.

Well, here in Brazil it is varied, as each one of us can carry whatever we need/like, but a common load for the tactical belt is something like:

.40 pistol holster;
.40 magazine ammo holster x2;
handcuffs holster;
Tactical lantern holster;
small knife holster.

Hope this is of any help.

Duty Belt
Mic Box Open Pouch
9mm Mag Pouch w/Leatherman multi-tool
Holster, Level II w/H&K USP 40
ASP Expandable Baton 26" with holder.
Hinged Handcuffs in close top case x2
Flashlight O-Ring for SL20 flashlight (not carried)
Flashlight Holder, Stinger
Radio holder. Motorola 800 series radio.
Dual ammo pouch for pistol mags.

But I carry far more than most my counter parts in my department.

Feel like fraking Batman some days.

Almost an identical list as Toad .... ust different weapon:

Level II with Glock 22 and attached tac light.

Leatherman is in my gear bag

I also carry a folding knife in my rear left "sap" pocket and have been known to carry a back-up on an ankle hoslter.

Just FYI though if we had a twilight type scenerio REALLY happen the duty belt aka Sam Brown is the first thing thats going for most of us in the department. At that point the blue uniforms go away, we'd switch to our black BDUS (these are our foul weather gear with patches and such still easily identifiable as police), K-pots, and we'd go to either tac vests and nylon gear probably. I know I'd dump it in favor of the vest.

Well, from what I've seen from the local departments around me...
Belt (seeing more nylon than real leather now) Bianchi looking popular.
sidearm (usually Berettas or Glocks) and retention holster
2 spare mags for sidearm
pepper spray
stun gun (usually a cross draw)
nightstick or asp baton
cuffs and holder
flashlight
uniforms range from standard to tactical BDU style.
Pocketknife
